Washington-native, Susy Sundborg, grew up in the desert amid hardy apple orchards. As the sole artist in a family of 6 kids, Susy was fascinated with music before she could speak and began taking private piano lessons at the age of 6. Eventually, classical studies evolved into Susy composing and singing her own music at the age of 11. She began performing at local coffee shops, the county fair and school performances, but also kept up her piano studies. She won several scholarships to music camps in her early teens. Susy also participated in musicals throughout high school, including “The Little Shop of Horrors.”
Susy received a music and academic scholarship to study at Central Washington University, where she excelled in music and business. With a love for languages and culture, Susy did a quarter abroad in Southern Spain where she lived with a local family and learned to speak Spanish fluently. After living abroad for a summer, Susy got the travel bug. She applied for several jobs in Europe, hoping to take another summer college break working overseas. She ended up spending the next 4 summers teaching music in London and Switzerland at TASIS- the prestigious American boarding schools.
Eventually, Susy settled down in Seattle and began using her business degree with a job in marketing at Microsoft. She worked with Microsoft for 2 years, but decided that the corporate world was not for her because music was calling her name. Susy began teaching piano and voice lessons again at Seattle’s, Mode Music, amidst developing her songwriting/performing career. Susy began using the stage name, Susy Sun. In the years to folllow, she released 3 studio albums and performed in over 100 venues across the West Coast. Susy’s latest adventure consisted of packing her bags to Los Angeles to further pursue her artistry. She released a new album in February 2017, has had her music playing in Starbucks stores world-wide and has a growing following on Spotify, with her single “You Let Go” at over 250,000 plays. Susy has been grateful to carry on her tradition of teaching in Los Angeles. With her vast background in traveling, working the corporate life, and songwriting/performing, Susy has a creative approach in the classroom. She has over 10 years teaching experience and specializes in vocal, piano and songwriting lessons.
